About the Digital SAT

The digital SAT is administered by the College Board and has 98 questions across two sections. Reading and Writing has 54 questions in 64 minutes, and Math has 44 questions in 70 minutes. Each section is split into two adaptive modules: your performance on the first module determines whether the second is easier or harder, which affects your score. Each section is scored 200 to 800, for a composite of 400 to 1600.

The test covers 8 content domains:

Why this matters: Algebra and Advanced Math together make up 70% of the Math section, more than double Geometry and Trigonometry and Problem-Solving and Data Analysis combined. On the Reading and Writing side, Craft and Structure alone is the single largest domain. Studying evenly across every topic wastes time relative to how the real test is actually weighted.

Why Practice Before the Exam

Because the digital SAT is adaptive, accuracy on the first module of each section matters more than on a fixed-form test. Practicing realistic questions in the same domain proportions as the real exam, with immediate explanations, builds both the content knowledge and the pacing the test rewards.

How to Prepare for the SAT

About the real test

The digital SAT is 98 questions across two sections: Reading and Writing (54 questions, 64 minutes) and Math (44 questions, 70 minutes), each split into two adaptive modules. Reading and Writing is scored across 4 domains, and Math across another 4, with Craft and Structure and the two Math domains (Algebra, Advanced Math) carrying the most weight.

Things that make the biggest difference

Algebra and Advanced Math are 70% of the Math section combined

Each carries 35% weight on its own, more than double Geometry and Trigonometry or Problem-Solving and Data Analysis. Prioritize linear equations, systems, and quadratics.

Craft and Structure is the single largest Reading and Writing domain

At about 28% of the section, vocabulary-in-context and rhetorical purpose questions come up more than any other Reading and Writing category.

It's adaptive: Module 1 sets your difficulty for Module 2

Performance in the first module of each section determines whether the second module is easier or harder, which is part of how your score is calculated. Accuracy early matters.
